Aerial view of the Kingsville Plant

The Kika de la Garza Plant Materials Center selects conservation plants and develops new vegetative technology for the 27 million acres that make up South Texas. To date, the Center’s releases include Falfurrias Germplasm big sacaton and Lavaca Germplasm Canada wildrye. The Center provides technical assistance to restore Gulf Coast prairie and the associated salt marshes, enhance waterbird habitat, revegetate areas disturbed by mining and oil field exploration, and improve range and pasture lands.
