Project Highlight

Country Living Symposium

Bluebonnet and Leon Bosque RC&D Areas partnered recently to conduct “Country Living Symposiums.”

These symposiums consist of professional speakers addressing topics dealing with country living or living outside of an incorporated area.

Topics covered included environmental ethics, area soils, pond construction, grazing management, brush control, wildlife management, wildlife tax exemptions, tree planting, tree care, fire ant control, water wells, and wastewater treatment systems.

More than 150 rural residents from Johnson, Parker, Tarrant, Wise, Palo Pinto, Hood, Somervell, Erath, and Jack Counties attended one of the four Country Living Symposiums.

An NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives Program Educational Grant issued to the Bluebonnet RC&D Council provided funding for these symposiums.
