Volunteer Fire Department Projects

The Northeast Texas RC&D Council has implemented a financial grant program to assist Volunteer Fire Departments (VFDs) in the area.

The Council determined that protecting residents from costly fires, responding to emergency calls, and providing homeland security are jobs that warrant Council’s support.

Financial grants were made to eight VFDs during the past two years to assist them with the purchase of such items as communication equipment, emergency light bars, truck beds, pumps, hoses, nozzles, firehouse utensils, and a flagpole. Grants are limited to $1,500 per department per year.

VFD personnel continue to depend on financial support from the community so that they can provide much needed emergency services.
