Objective:

EQIP 06 funds will be used to support brush control efforts in selected watersheds. Initial efforts will focus on cost share for initial and follow-up brush control by local cooperators who participate in the Texas Soil and Water Conservation Board’s brush control program and other independent brush control efforts in the watersheds. EQIP funds will leverage state funds to increase available water through brush control and grazing management.

  • Facilitating practices (range planting, water development, fence, grazing land mechanical treatment) - Medium Priority

    Practices will be cost shared based on the established county average cost of the practice.

    Incentive Practice:  
    Prescribed Grazing $5 per acre 50 points

    Instructions for Completing Ranking Worksheet:

  • Only highest point item counts toward score
  • Can have multiple item contracts
  • 60 percent of total contract dollars must address the High Priority Concern
  • Mark all practices that producer wants cost shares on.
  • Prescribed grazing points are in addition to points for the highest point item
  • Follow-up is not permitted unless there are 50 plants per acre or greater than 11 percent density.
  • Brush initially treated under a federal cost-share program must have met the 10 year lifespan requirement prior to follow-up treatment.
