EQIP Program in Robertson County

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offers cost share assistance to agricultural producers to implement on-farm conservation practices.  The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) determines eligible producers for the EQIP program and determines eligible land.  Eligible producers may apply for cost share assistance on conservation practices that will address the identified resource concern identified by the Local Work Group (LWG).

Objective:

The objectives of the Robertson county EQIP LWG are to promote the use of conservation practices on pasture, rangeland , and hayland to improve the Plant Health in Robertson county, and to increase the irrigation efficiency on cropland.

County EQIP Resource Concern:

Primary Resource Concern: In Robertson County for 2006, the LWG has identified the following resource concerns as being top priorities for cost share assistance this year:

Plant Health: Plant Health was selected as one of the Resource Concerns. The eligible practice list includes: Native Grass establishment, Pasture and Hayland Planting (must have 50 percent or less stand of desirable grasses for grass planting), Fence (cross fence for grazing management), Ponds and Well and Pipeline for rotational grazing only. Brush Management (must include one year of Prescribed Grazing Incentive), Use Exclusion, Riparian Forest Buffer, Heavy Use Area Protection, Grade Stabilization Structure, and Critical Area Shaping and Planting.

Water Quantity:
Water Quantity was also selected as one of the Resource Concerns. Eligible practices are: Irrigation Pipeline and Center Pivot Sprinkler Systems (MESA, LESA, LPIC). Eligible fields must have been irrigated 2 out of the last 5 years.

Priority for Funding:

For Robertson county EQIP in 2006, 50 percent of EQIP funds will go to Plant Health and 50 percent for Water Quantity.  Priority for funding shall be as follows: #1 Plant Health, #2 Water Quantity.

Eligible Practices and Cost Share Rates:

Practices will be cost shared based on the average cost of the practice. The amount of cost share earned will be the number of units certified after completion multiplied by the average cost multiplied by the cost share rate. Cost share rates will be set at 50 percent for Plant Health and 30 percent for Water Quantity.
