Spring/Dove Creek - Twin Buttes

Objective:

2007 EQIP funds will be used to support brush control efforts in selected watersheds. Initial efforts will focus on cost share for initial and follow-up brush control. EQIP funds will be utilized to increase available water through brush control and grazing management.

  • Initial Brush Management – all approved methods on juniper, mesquite and prickly pear - High Priority
  • Follow-up Brush Management - Medium Priority
  • Facilitating practices [range planting, water development, fence, grazing land mechanical treatment (ripping), prescribed burning] -
    Low Priority

    Limited Resource Farmer/ Producer - 90 percent
    Beginning Farmer/ Rancher - 50 percent
    All other categories - 50 percent

    Practices will be cost shared based on the established county average cost of the practice.

    Ranking Criteria:

    Criteria Points
    Brush Management:  
    Initial Brush Management on juniper and mesquite 150 points
    Prickly pear control 125 points
    Follow-up Brush Management - 50 plants per acre or greater than 11 percent density 70 points
    Facilitating Practices:  
    Range planting 15 points
    Fencing 15 points
    Water Development 15 points
    Grazing land mechanical treatment 15 points
    Prescribed burning 15 points
    Incentive Practice:  
         Prescribed Grazing $5 per acre - See Job Sheet 50 points
