Plant Condition -Reforestation

Objective:

EQIP funds will be used to supplement EQIP county based funds and leverage other state and Federal programs. Technical and financial assistance will enable forest landowners to reestablish forest in 18 East Texas Counties where there is a critical need that has been identified. 

Resource Concern:

Plant Condition – Productivity, health and vigor

Primary Area of Concern:

Landowners of forestland in counties listed below:

  • Orange
  • Jasper
  • Newton
  • Hardin
  • Tyler
  • Jefferson
  • Chambers
  • Galveston
  • Liberty
  • Polk

 
  • San Jacinto
  • San Augustine
  • Sabine
  • Angelina
  • Shelby
  • Harris
  • Nacogdoches
  • Montgomery

Eligible Practices:

490 – Forest Site Preparation (with 612 only)
612 – Tree / Shrub Establishment (with 490 or stand alone)
383 – Fuel Break

Cost Share Rates:

Limited Resource Farmers and Ranchers – 90 percent
Beginning Farmer/Rancher - 75 percent
All others 75 percent

Practices will be cost shared based on the established county cost of the practice.

Ranking Criteria:

  1. Do you have a written conservation developed for your land?  Yes – 100 points No – 0 points
  2. Did you have more than 60  percent damage to your forest tract from Hurricane Rita?  Yes – 95 points No – 0 points
  3. Did you have less than 60  percent damage to your forest tract from Hurricane Rita?  Yes – 90 points No – 0 points
  4. Do you manage your streamside Management Zones?  Yes – 85 points No – 0 points
  5. Do you have natural regeneration of pines on your forest tract?  Yes – 80 points No – 0 points
