North and South Llano
Objective:
EQIP funds will be used to support brush control efforts in selected
watersheds. Efforts will focus on cost share for initial and follow-up brush
control by local cooperators. Portions of the following counties are included in
the North and South Llano Priority Area: Sutton, Kimble, Edwards and Real.
EQIP funds will leverage state funds to increase available water through brush
control and grazing management.

Brush Management on Cedar– Red berry and Blue Berry (Ashe) Juniper -all approved methods in
North & South Llano Watersheds. - High Priority
Brush Management on Mesquite, Willow Baccharis and Prickly Pear– all approved
methods in North & South Llano Watersheds. - Medium Priority

Includes All Pastures in the grazing rotation.
Maximum of 3 payments.

75 percent of total contract dollars must address the High Priority Concern – does not apply to acres of Brush Management.
Range seeding following brush management and prescribed burning
following brush management are the exceptions.
Facilitating practices:
- Range planting
- Fencing
- Water development and/or pipelines
- Prescribed burning
Instructions for Completing Ranking Worksheet:
- When more than one species of brush is being treated, the predominate acres to
be treated will determine the priority and points awarded.
- Can have multiple item contracts
- Applications without Brush Management will be ranked with 0 points.
- Raking and stacking will not be cost shared.
- 10 extra points are awarded to those who are following brush management with
prescribed burning.
- When chaining is selected for brush management, it must be followed with
prescribed burning.
- Acres being deferred as a result of brush management specifications will
not receive the prescribed grazing incentive payment during the year(s) in
which the deferment is taking place.
