EQIP Program in Scurry County
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
offers cost share assistance to agricultural producers to implement
on-farm conservation practices. The Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS) determines eligible producers for the EQIP program and
determines eligible land. Eligible producers may apply for cost share
assistance on conservation practices that will address the identified
resource concern identified by the Local Work Group (LWG).

Interested agricultural producers may apply in person at the
Scurry County USDA Service Center. Applicants may also request

Objective:
The Upper Colorado SWCD Scurry County EQIP LWG identified, as an objective,
the need to promote the use of the resource base in a sustainable manner with
emphasis on controlling invasive species and improving livestock water
distribution while reducing excessive erosion on cropland. Conservation of
groundwater is a secondary concern but continues to be a growing concern.
County EQIP Resource Concern:
1. Brush Encroachment
Control invasive species of brush on rangeland and pastureland.
2. Water Quantity
Conserve usage of underground water from aquifer with newer application
technology.
3. Erosion Control
Utilize terraces in conjunction with waterways or grassed outlets on eroding
cropland. Range and Pasture Planting established on eroding cropland.
4.
Livestock Water Distribution
Utilize wells, livestock pipelines, troughs, water storage facilities, ponds,
fences, and pump plants to facilitate livestock grazing distribution.
