EQIP Program in Jim Hogg County

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offers cost share assistance to agricultural producers to implement on-farm conservation practices.  The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) determines eligible producers for the EQIP program and determines eligible land.  Eligible producers may apply for cost share assistance on conservation practices that will address the identified resource concern identified by the Local Work Group (LWG).

County EQIP Resource Concern:

The Local Workgroup has identified Plant Condition as the primary resource concern in Jim Hogg County, thus having the highest priority for cost share assistance, incentive payments and technical assistance. The Local Work Group is confident that by addressing this concern there will be an overall reduction in soil erosion, improvement in water quantity and quality and enhancement of wildlife habitat.

Eligible Practices and Cost Share Rates:

Limited Resource Farmers/Ranchers - 90 percent
Beginning Farmers Ranchers - 50 percent
Others - 50 percent

The approved conservation practices will be cost shared based on the established average cost of the practice in Jim Hogg County.
