EQIP Program in Sterling CountyThe Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offers cost share assistance to agricultural producers to implement on-farm conservation practices. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) determines eligible producers for the EQIP program and determines eligible land. Eligible producers may apply for cost share assistance on conservation practices that will address the identified resource concern identified by the Local Work Group (LWG). Objective:The objectives of the Sterling County EQIP Local Work Group are to promote
the wise use of conservation practices for improving the natural resources of
the County. A meeting of the Local Work Group identified the following resource
concern - Water Quantity County EQIP Resource Concern:Water Quantity was selected as the highest priority concern for Sterling
County. Brush Management will be given the highest priority for funding. Priority for Funding:High Priority Eligible Practices and Cost Share Rates:Limited Resource Producers - 90 percent Cost sharing will be allowed for the following practices as identified in the Field Office Technical Guide. Brush Management 314 For cost share consideration, this practice must significantly contribute to the control of Invasive Plant Species according to NRCS specifications and guidelines.
