New Landowner Workshop in Laredo on June 19


Laredo, Texas - June 10, 2008.   If you own land in Webb or surrounding counties, make plans to attend the new landowner workshop on Thurs., June 19 at Lamar Bruni Vergara Youth Center at Camp Huisache, 7210 E. Hwy. 59, in Laredo off U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar Roadway and Hwy. 59. The free workshop will educate landowners on where to get technical and financial assistance and available programs to help them achieve their land management goals.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture –Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), Rural Development (RD), National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS); Rio Bravo Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D), Texas AgriLife Extension, Texas/Mexico Border Coalition CBO, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Department of Agriculture, Small Business Development Center and Capital Farm Credit will be speaking and also available to visit one-on-one with landowners.

A lunch will be provided. Register by calling the NRCS office by June 16 at (956) 723-6643 ext. 3.
Any program participants needing special accommodations call the Webb County Extension office in advance at 956-723-2626 to make arrangements.

Registration/coffee begins at 8 a.m. and the workshop runs 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Workshop sponsors include Webb County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), USDA-NRCS, Texas AgriLife Extension, Texas/Mexico Border Coalition CBO, Capital Farm Credit, and Ag Workers Mutual Auto Insurance.
