Conservation Partners to Present Management Options for Expiring CRP


Lubbock, Texas, September 24, 2009 - The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), AgriLife Extension Service and other conservation partners will host a “Land Management Options for Expired CRP Land” meeting in Canyon, Texas.

The conference is designed to educate landowners on various management options and alternatives for expiring Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts. Issues such as conservation compliance, brush management, grazing management, wildlife management, farming economics, history and the future of CRP lands will be addressed.

Make plans to attend the meeting at the Randall County AgriLife Extension Center, 200 Brown Road in Canyon on September 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All attendees will receive three general continuing education units (CEU’s) toward pesticide applicator re-certification.

Agencies and other conservation partners sponsoring the event are Texas Parks and Wildlife, Dupont, Dow Agrosciences, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, FSA, NRCS and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts.

Anyone in the High Plains region interested in learning more about sound management options for their expiring CRP lands is encouraged to attend. Lunch, refreshments and conference materials will be provided at no charge.
