Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Host Free Drought
Management Workshops
Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) will host free drought
management workshops during August for ranchers in drought-stricken parts of
Texas. All programs are free to ranchers and include a meal.
"We can't make it rain, but we can put together information and resources
concerning drought assistance and best practices to help ranchers pull through
these extreme weather conditions," said TSCRA President Dave Scott, a rancher
from Richmond. "It is important that producers know what options are available
to them."
Registration for all meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. The dates and locations of
TSCRA's drought management workshops are as follows.
Aug. 24 - Southwest Livestock Exchange, Uvalde
Aug. 25 - RY Livestock Sales, Rio Grande City
Aug. 26 - Beeville Livestock Commission, Beeville
Aug. 27 - Atascosa Livestock Exchange, Pleasanton
Experts will be available to discuss different drought insurance programs as
well as techniques for managing business finances during times of drought.
Officials with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) will also be on
hand to discuss several federal assistance options available to ranchers.
Attendees should reserve their seat by Aug. 20. Please contact Stacy Fox at
