Story by Randy Henry, Public Affairs Specialist

The Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (VATAT) has recognized Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Manager Carolann Corado with a special award for her support and commitment toward agricultural science and the Texas Future Farmers of America.

Corado received the award at the VATAT annual meeting, July 24-28, 2006, in Amarillo, Texas, with approximately 1,700 agricultural teachers and professionals applauding her efforts. Corado is known for her hard-working attitude and dedication toward agricultural science and helping youngsters learn about conservation. She is based at the NRCS field office in Montague, Texas.

“All three of the SWCD districts I work for, including Upper Elm-Red, Jack and Denton counties, support and encourage me to help with these programs for the youth in Texas,” said Corado.

VATAT is a professional organization for agricultural science teachers and supporters of agriculture education. The organization informs agriculture teachers about the latest educational practices, encourages higher standards of teaching agriculture, and provides agricultural education a unified voice in the state legislature.
