30th Annual Bedias Creek Annual Land Judging Contest

By Kathy Dean, Public Affairs Specialist, Houston

The 30th Annual Land Judging Career Development Contest was held March 8th and consisted of 8 schools--15 teams with a total of 67 people attending and assisting in this years contest. The NRCS Team and Soil Scientist set up sites at Fort Boggy State Park in Leon County. The Contest was open for all FFA as well as 4-H Land/Range/Pasture Teams. In addition to our District Area Schools we have been fortunate to have several schools attend from outside our area. This contest is a stepping stone for these young people to the Area, State and National Land Judging Contests. Bedias Creek SWCD thanks the Madisonville State Bank for their sponsor support and the USDA-NRCS in helping us make this an interesting and challenging contest as well as to the rangers with the Texas Parks and Wildlife for all their assistance. See the winners pictures at http://bedias-walker.tx.nacdnet.org/land_judging_2006.htm.
