401.4 Objectives
NRCS will:
- Provide equal employment opportunity for all employees and applicants
regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age (40+), physical
or mental disability, sexual orientation, marital or family status, political
beliefs, parental status, or protected genetic information in its policies,
practices, and working conditions;
- Encourage employees to fully develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities
through on-the-job training, work study, and other measures, so that they may
perform at their highest potential and advance in accordance with their
abilities;
- Take affirmative action to eliminate under representation of minorities,
women, and persons with disabilities who have not participated in the workforce
in representative numbers because of past statutory, economic, or social
restrictions;
- Develop positive working relationships with special interest organizations
and educational institutions to improve conditions that affect employability,
and inform these groups of employment opportunities;
- Counsel employees and applicants who believe they have been subjected to
discrimination; and
- Attempt resolutions of all discrimination complaints promptly and
impartially in the informal stage.
